Inspiration

I present to you two awesome new online video parts.

Desiree's riding has impressed me ever since seeing her in Runway Films "La La Land" from 2007. Speaking of it, I really really miss those movies! I remember, the first all girls movie I ever saw was in 2005, Misschief Films' "..as if!" and I was so excited when I ordered the DVD online and watched it on my TV at home. I was 15, just started riding in the funparks and those girls became my greatest heroes. The season after that, RoShamBo came out, followed by Runway's "La La Land" and "See What I See". That was a special era, the "DVD ordering" era. After that, the online movies "STANCE" and of course, the Peep Show and the Lipstick girls came up. Snowboard movies have changed so much and it's such a pity that I can't even seem to find the trailer for "As if" anymore. I guess, I will have to go through my DVD collection and upload those movies to the world wide web because it's worth so much to see the progression in (female) snowboard films!

 Nostalgia!

Jess, on the other hand, I saw for the first time in the second Peep Show movie, I think. But I heard she's been around for years, riding halfpipe competition and other stuff. She's quite the allrounder which impresses me a lot. Check out her part from her own webseries "Barely".

Collecting bruises in Holland

There are good trips and there are not so good trips. And there are trips like the one we did last week: a crazy bunch of girls who are all on the same page, who want to have fun together, talk shit and laugh all day.
But first things first. It all started for me on monday night, when I took the train to Chur, where Joelle collected me and we drove to Serfaus where we could stay at Mary's hotel. Exhausted as we were, we had to check out the wellness area at 10pm and fell in love with the Tepidarium which basically is just a infrared breeder and made us feel like newborn chickens. Perfect start for a trip like this.
Isabella, Sarah, Bianca (photographer) and Neil (filmer) joined us and our little crew was complete. The next day we had to fit 7 people, 7 suitcases, 7 snowboards and a lot of other stuff in a VW bus which was quite the challenge but as we all used to be Tetris champions ages ago it all went well. So did our 12-hour-ride to Leusden, where Isabella's mom let us stay for 2 nights. Thank you!
The next day, we did some sightseeing, shopping and of course, snowboarding at Snowworld Zoetermeer. It was very sketchy at the beginning. We all (except for Isa of course) had to get used to the 5cm of artificial snow with the bare ice layer underneath. We collected some considerable bruises and felt 10 years older that night.
The next day went a lot better. Having gotten used to the fridge (-10°!) everyone  threw some heavy tricks on the perfectly shaped set up. Stay tuned for some photos and an edit! Anyway, that night, we drove to The Hague, where Rik (from Rock A Rail) let us stay at a church for free. Thank you! After going out and checking out Dutch fast food and of course the set up for the next day we went to bed very happy and very nervous!
Contest day started out pretty shitty as it was raining practically the whole day. Nevertheless, we managed to get motivated pretty fast and when the sun came out during practise everyone was hyped on riding this huge thing! All girls really went for it and I still can't believe I made 3rd place. I'm not going to say anything more than: We had a blast!! Check out the photos, articles and videos!
Big big props to Rachida, Dina Treland, Joelle Juchli, Mary Luggen, Sarah Jane Phillips, Isabella Groenestein, Veroniqi Hanssen!

Girls Camp, freestyle.ch, Rock the Rail

A couple of weeks ago I was coach at the "Girls Camp" in Zermatt, a camp initiated by Ursina Haller to show the kids that we girls can rock the park just as well as the guys! I loved it and am already looking forward to my next session with the girls. Snowboarding went really well, too, I think I have fully recovered now and can hit the kickers and pipe again!

Last weekend, the most famous freestyle event in Switzerland, namely freestyle.ch, took place and I was a proud part of the Rip Curl booth. We had one of the biggest crowd surrounding our little location and the kids were stoked about the caps and pens we gave them and let them be creative with. Feels so good to put a smile on a little kid's face!

In 2 weeks, I'm heading to The Hague for a big rail jam in the middle of the city. It's called the Protest Rock a Rail 2012 and I'm going there with my favourite jib buddies JJ, Mary, Isy and Gaia. We will leave a few days prior to the contest in order to also check out the Indoor parks in Holland.

Winter is coming, it's already getting cold! The Laax season is already supposed to start in 4 weeks. I'm getting excited!!

Does it get any sweeter than this

I passed all my exams and now I'm working on my master thesis, earning some money and most of all enjoying a beatiful summer in Switzerland. Last weekend I went snowboarding in Zermatt (Gravity Snowpark Zermatt). I'm officially addicted again and can't wait for next winter!!

By the way, while waiting for next winter, look at those trailers and get excited for the movies.
